Obituary of Ruth Graham
It is with deeply saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Ruth Graham on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Kingsway Lodge at the age of 97. An amazing woman we have loved, adored, and cherished for many years. Ruth will be deeply missed. We were blessed to have had such a wonderful and knowledgeable woman be a part of our lives for as long as we have. She taught us all so much with the many stories she shared, or a cute little song she would sing.
Known as Aunt Ruth to everyone, she was born on November 4, 1925. She loved her family and attending family reunions. She enjoyed spending time at Tim Hortons where she would meet her many friends. Aunt Ruth supported many charities over the years, and she worked as a secretary at Scoville Delong from the time she left high school until retirement. She was very knowledgeable about the old St. Marys buildings and the beautiful heritage St. Marys has to offer. Aunt Ruth loved all sports and was an enthusiastic Blue Jays fan.
In her younger years, she belonged to the St. Marys bowling league. Ruth owned her own house on Queen Street, where her mom and dad lived with her. As many know, she loved to pull dandelions, garden, and was proud of her raspberry and lilac bushes. She watched all sports to support her nieces and nephews in St. Marys, and she also supported many local functions in St. Marys.
When Ruth’s younger sister Faye passed suddenly at a young age, Ruth stepped up and assumed a mother figure role to her children. She was not only a mother figure to her children she took them under her wings and taught them the ways of life. We have all been left with fond memories that we will hold onto forever. Ruth was surrounded with love until the very end. She set the bar high with her unwavering knowledge, pride, and wisdom. Aunt Ruth passed with much dignity and grace and is now reunited with her family whom passed before her.
The family of Ruth Graham would like to express their gratitude and sincere thanks to Dr. Trevail for always having Ruth’s care and wishes first. They would like to thank the doctors, nurses, support, and volunteer staff at Kingsway for all their kindness, care and support over the years.
Cherished aunt of Elaine (Carl), Jack (Linda), Shirley (Gary), Heather (Rick), Sharon (Todd), Tom and their families.
Loved by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Adored by many extended family members and friends.
Predeceased by her parents Bertha and William, and by her seven brothers and four sisters.
Cremation has taken place. At Ruth’s request there will be no formal services held. A private family interment of ashes has taken place. To celebrate a life well lived, family and friends will be received at the St. Marys Legion, 66 Church St. N, St. Marys, on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 12 noon until 2:00 p.m. for a time of remembrance and fellowship.
