Obituary of Rev. Jason Paul Richards

Rev. Jason Richards passed away peacefully after a valiant battle with cancer at the age of 41 on April 13, 2023 in St. Marys, Ontario with his family at his side and the prayers of people in communities near and far.

Beloved husband of Rev. Young Seo, married July 2015 in South Korea. Loving father of his “Little Buddy” Lincoln. Son of Bruce and Margaret and son-in-law of JongHyun Seo and YoungSook Lim (deceased). Brother of Tracy and her husband Johnathan Roy and their family Elsie and Asher and brother-in-law of YoungGeun Seo, and YoungWoon Seo, his wife Dessire Parcon Seo and their son DongWook Seo. Also remembered by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Jason was born in Saskatoon, and after completing his basic education, he found his calling at St. Andrew’s College, Saskatoon, receiving his Masters of Divinity Degree with the United Church of Canada in 2016. Spending a semester in Soul, Korea, he completed an internship at Kangnam Church. His first call to ministry was St. Paul’s United Church, 2016, in Estevan, Saskatchewan. His second call to ministry brought him to St. Marys United Church, St. Marys, Ontario from 2019 until his passing.

Visitation at the ST. MARYS UNITED CHURCH, 85 Church St. S. St. Marys, on April 27, 2023 from 6 – 9 p.m. The Memorial Service will be held at the St. MARYS UNITED CHURCH on April 28, 2023 at 11 am. Private interment in St. Marys Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to an Education Fund for Lincoln Richards (cheque donations can be made payable to Young Seo).
