Obituary of William Stephens

William (Bill) Douglas Stephens passed away suddenly but peacefully at his home in St. Marys on March 24, 2017 at the age of 87.Survived by his wife Anna (Thompson) Stephens and children Michael Stephens and his wife Shaila Ahmed of Toronto, Marilee Stephens of Edmonton, Sandy Stephens of Toronto, Scott Stephens of St. Marys, Mark Stephens of St. Marys, and grandchild Naylah Stephens. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-laws, Vernon and Bessie Thompson and Helen McLean Nethercott, as well as a large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.Bill is predeceased by his parents Clarence and Jane Stephens and his sister Marion Bickell. Bill was a long time farmer in the Kirkton area and was an actively engaged member of his community.Visitation will be held at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. S. St. Marys (519-284-2820) on Monday, Mar. 27, from 7 – 9 p.m.The Funeral Service will be conducted at MOTHERWELL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 2664 Perth Rd. 163, on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Catherine Calkin officiating.Spring interment in Avonbank Cemetery.Memorial Donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
