Murray, Lynne, Shelley & Gary,
We are so sorry for your loss. Gloria was a wonderful lady who was gracious, kind and generous.
She was always so good to me....from the days of making me honey sandwiches with the crust cut off to putting up with me and Lynne and our teenage antics. I remember being woken up by early morning piano students on a few occasions.
She will be truly missed and our thoughts are with you all during this difficult time.

Dear Murray and Family:
Please accept my sincere condolences on the death of your wife, (mother, grandmother).
Gloria was a wonderful person whom I met many years ago, during her first year of teaching at St. Marys DCVI. At that time she was still known as Miss Parker and she was my grade 9 'Home Room Teacher'. What a joy to come into the classroom each morning and hear her cheerful greeting! I was one of those very shy, frightened, country kids who had come from a one room country school into the high school of about 1000 students. Her morning greeting gave me the courage needed to start my day. I was also fortunate to be in one of her grade 9 English classes, so I also experienced her warm and cheerful teaching style. Not too long into that schoolyear she married and moved to Wellburn and we learned to call her Mrs. Hutton. During the next few years I enjoyed meeting her many times as a neighbour and friend. Although I only had Mrs. Hutton as an English teacher for that one year, she had such a great influence on me that I, too, eventually became a high school English teacher. Many years later, after both of us had retired from teaching, Gloria came into my life again. A friend and I were on the schedule of churches leading the Interdenominational Prayer Services at Wildwood Care Centre, the person who had been playing piano for us had to retire from this ministry and we were in a real quandry. When asked to help, Gloria graciously joined us. She was as joyful, gentle and cheerful as she was so many years ago! What a blessing she was for us and for the residents at Wildwood! Gloria was a wonderful person, who graciously gave of her talents so willingly! She has made a difference in the lives of so many people -- she will be greatly missed and fondly remembered!
During this very sad time may you be comforted by your memories of Gloria and the stories about her which are shared with you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

Gloria’s passion for inspiring young people became clear to Stew when he interviewed her for an article about the history of St. Marys DCVI, where she taught for a period of time. Her eyes seemed to light up as she recalled teaching students who have since become valued members of her community. Later, we had the good fortune of having Gloria teach piano to our son. We experienced how her steady belief in him and her other students built self-confidence in these young people. Thank you Gloria!

Gloria was one of the first people that greeted me in February 2019 when I began my journey with East Nissouri Union church.
Gloria's smile, and her welcoming spirit has been a blessing to many people and I will always be thankful for her friendship with me
Gloria taught me many things including the song Spirit of Gentleness that I have since called Gloria's song. Each time we sing this song at East Nissouri Union church I always think of Gloria and how she was such a wonderful, loving and caring person who leaves us all with a legacy of music and love for others.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Murray and his family.
