Our sincere sympathy to the Stephens family at this sad time. Our friendship goes back to 1952 when Bill worked on a harvest crew travelling west from Ontario and worked for a time on our farm in Manitoba. Fast forward 30 or so years and Bill and Anna stopped in on their way to the Calgary Stampede. My grandparents, who lived on the farm as well, remembered Bill and Grandpa found a payroll receipt to Bill from 1952. They stopped in several times over the years (one year Mark visited with his dad), and my parents later visited Bill and Anna on their farm in Ontario and had a wonderful time. They arranged to borrow a fiddle for my dad, invited their neighbours and played music and visited into the wee hours. Dad and Bill passed 10 days apart, and Mom and Anna continued to visit by phone and letters. We always looked forward to Anna's Christmas letter, keeping us up to date on her family. What wonderful memories we have, and we are so sorry for your loss.

Sincerest Sympathy to the Stephens families,
Anna leaves behind a legacy of love as she nurtured her family and community throughout her life. Anna will always be remembered for her kindness, empathy and compassion to help anyone in need. A strong work ethic, endless energy and passion for continuous learning enabled Anna to be successful at 2 careers of becoming a teacher and RN while being a devoted and caring wife of Bill and their 5 children...not an easy feat in the 1950's/1960's. Anna was a dynamic leader and role model for women throughout her life.
Family was her priority and she was so proud of your endeavours and accomplishments in life.
Bill and Anna were great neighbours and will be missed.
Sincerely,
Ron and Debbie Morrison and family

I had the pleasure to take Anna and Joyce to Bessie's for her Birthday celebrations this year. Coffee, cake and ice cream!! It was such fun to go through all the picture albums with her and the cousins.
I shall miss not seeing her when I go visit Joyce.

Dear Stephens Family: I wish to extend my condolences and sympathy to all of you, and on behalf of my family. Your Dad and Mom always lived their lives in support of their community and church helping out wherever they could. Your Mother and your Dad were both great neighbors, always kind and considerate of others. They were always there to lend a helping hand. I will miss them very much.
The highlights of our Christmases was when your Dad picked up our young families, especially the children, for a bob-sled ride with his team of horses through the bush and back home. It still gets remembered today.

Dear Stephens Family: I'm so sorry to hear of Anna May's passing. She was a wonderful person and neighbour. Having baled hay and straw for Bill and Anna May on their farm for many years during my youth I always marvelled at how she could multitask. One minute she'd be looking after her family, the next unloading a hay wagon, the next milking cows and somewhere in there she found the time to prepare a full three course, delicious supper for all the hay baling crew. She was so kind and thoughtful. She will be missed.

Sending my sincere sympathy to the Stephens family. Anna May was my grade 8 teacher and she was so kind and giving as she made me a Majorette outfit to lead S.S.#3 Fullarton school for marching at the fairs. She was a great musician as she played for me when I sang solos for events. Her hands were never idle as was always doing something.
In times such as these we have been comforted by these Leonard Cohen words ...... "So come my friends be not afraid. We are so lightly here. It is in love that we are made and in love we disappear."
