Obituary of Irene Mercurio

Irene Mercurio (nee Smees) resident of The Applewood Landmarks in Mississauga ON, formerly of Sutton, QC, and born in Dinxperlo, Holland.

Irene passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on May 28, 2024, at the age of 79.

Irene is survived by her longtime partner Wilfred Meyer. She is also survived by her four children and their spouses: Danny & Marilyn, Janine & Greg, Sacha & Jennifer, Vadim & Ashley.  Also, her grandchildren: Sean, Justin, Nicholas, Alana, and Dayna.  Additionally, her great-grandchildren: Kylie, Wesley and Isaac.

Irene is also survived by her sister Annie and her brother & sister-in-law Vim & Annie, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family in the Netherlands.

The Family would like to thank the doctors and nurses from Queensway Trillium Hospital, AnnMarie Walter (Homecare PSW), and the many additional PSW’s that helped care for her during her final days.

Irene lived every day to the fullest and always made it a priority to care for her family and close friends. The wellbeing of her family was always her top concern.  She had a great passion for food, travel, and fitness and always looked at life in a positive and loving way.

She will be deeply missed by all those fortunate enough to know her!
