Obituary of Bob Daykin

Bob Daykin passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2023 in his 81st year surrounded by his family.

Husband to Sharon (Vessie), married 58 years. Survived by his children Lori Ford (Ken Ballantyne), Karen Kraemer (Garnet), Chris Palmer (Wes), Kim Pearson (Ken), Rob Daykin (Brenda), 11 grandchildren Matt, Adam, Stacy, Bret, Stephanie, Justin, Ben, Kyle, Kaleb, Drew and Mallory. Also survived by nine great-grandchildren, known as Big Papa to Aubree, Jill, Kinsley, Kane, Kash, Paisley, Oliver, Nix and Olivia. Brother of Janet Castrenis (George), Rosemay Boyes (Ken) and brother-in-law of Darlene Goodman (Don), Dave Vessie (Val) and Robert Vessie (Geraldine).

Predeceased by his parents Robert and Lucille Daykin, Andrew and Olive Vessie, brothers-in-law Donald, Vernon, Jim, Russell Vessie and sister-in-law Barb Vessie.

Bob worked at Cooper Standard for 43 years, where he started as a machine operator. He worked his way to maintenance, millwright, lead hand and finished as maintenance supervisor at his retirement. Bob was active in his early years helping with St. Marys Minor Ball and St. Marys Ringette, serving on committees and coaching. The last few years Bob helped the St. Marys Lincolns, sitting on the board of directors. He had a love for his family and loved to go on family camping trips; being an avid camper for years.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held at the ST. MARYS LEGION, 66 Church St. N. St. Marys, on January 13, 2024 from 2 to 4 pm.
