Obituary of Trudy Rovers

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gertrude "Trudy" Rovers in her 85 th year, born Oct 2, 1938, in Langenboom , North Brabant , Netherlands, on August 7, 2023 surrounded by her family after a severe stroke , she passed peacefully.

Loving wife of William(Bill) Rovers of 63 years. Proud Mother of Annette Sharp (Gord) ,John Rovers,Michael Rovers(Janice), and Bill Rovers (Yvonne) Loving grandmother of Carrie Mckichan (Ian), Rick Sharp(Cassi), Jonathan Rovers,Victoria Rovers,(Daniel),Matthew Rovers( Paige), Michelle Rovers and Rebecca Rovers , Ryan Kempen ,Lauren Kempen , Brooke Trachsel (Scott) , Morgan Schumm (Jordan) Samantha McLeod (Zach)and 14 great grandchildren.

Daughter of Maria Verhallen- Siroen and Gerald Siroen deceased and daughter in law to Johannes Rovers and Lamberta Van De Venne-Rovers deceased .Sister to Arnold (Joanne) Siroen, deceased. Anthony Siroen deceased and corrie. Martin Siroen (Whilhelmiena) deceased and Evan Wardell deceased Mary Vanbree (Tony) deceased . Josie(Arnold) Van Moorsel, Nelly (Tony) Verwaayen ,Joanne (Ted) Verwaayen, and Gerry (Lieva) Siroen. sister-in-law to Catherine McDonald( Bernie) deceased .Gerry (Loretta) Rovers , Bert Rovers deceased (Anne) and Wayne Benson . Merna (Gerry) Vermeeren deceased ,.Dina (John )Vanderwyst and John (Lissette) Rovers .

Trudy and Bill were active members of Holy Name of Mary Parish and the town of St Marys. Mom and Dad immigrated separately to Canada where they met and fell in love. The life they made was full of dancing, card games and family. When they were first married they ran a pig farm and then started their own construction company. They were fortunate enough to retire early and build up Prospect Hill Campgrounds and later spend many years in their favourite vacation home in Florida. Many hours of service were given through groups like the Lions Club and the catholic woman’s league. Our family would like to thank all the people at Fairhill (Kingsway Lodge) where mom lived the last years of her life for making her feel loved and cared for. To Dr. Charles Gatfield who always told her like it is and gave her outstanding care , we thank you. We would also like to thank her team at Stratford hospital who helped her after her stroke, Your compassion did not go unnoticed. Lastly we would like to thank Dr Eric Thomas who helped make her last journey a peaceful and loving one.

Cremation has taken place.

Family and friends are invited to HOLY NAME OF MARY PARISH, Northeast corner of Widder St. E. and Peel St. N., St. Marys, in the PARISH HALL for visitation on Friday, Aug. 11, from 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY NAME OF MARY PARISH on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023 at 11 am with Fr. Don Pumputis.

Interment of urn in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Reception to follow in the Community Hall at the Pyramid Recreation Centre, 317 James St. S., St. Marys.
