I am so thankful to have had the honour and privilege of knowing Mrs Jewson. Knowing her and learning from her about teaching and family has made me a better person. She always gave good advice (which was necessary all throughout university and my early teaching days). I have fond memories of cottage trips and our vacation to Myrtle Beach. I am sending all my love to the Jewson family.

To Fred, Heather and the rest of Midge's family and friend circle: Midge will be sadly missed by so many in the St. Marys community. Her career as a dedicated and professional teacher is legendary and will be remembered with fondness, as her time helping to guide St. Marys on council. It was Midge that introduced me to the statement "stack em deep and teach em cheap" when she was referring to government folk's thinking who didn't want to put money into the educational system. I was impressed with her dedication to the cause of better education for all. I remember at the Friendship Centre watching Midge play bridge like a riverboat gambler. It was impressively clear she loved the game and certainly knew how to play it! I will miss her, her children and grandchildren up at the town pool before COVID. Along with Fred, Midge loved introducing her baby grandchildren to the joys of swimming. May the loving memories you all have of the time you spend with Midge comfort you during this difficult time.

Our sympathies to the Jewson Family during this difficult time. I count Midge as one of my “Secondary Principal Mentors” at DCVI years ago. She was a natural leader within the school, a person who exercised critical thinking along with providing solutions during my tenure there. She cared about kids, she cared about staff, she cared about people. She was a lady with a big heart who will be missed.

I am so saddened by the news of Midge’s sudden passing. She was one of my favourite teachers (and field hockey coach!), always there to lend an ear, to chat or to give words of advice or encouragement. She taught her female students by example what it meant to be a strong woman, and to never be afraid to speak up and speak out. Years later she sat on the Friendship Centre Board as our Town Council Rep, where she was a positive presence and so very well liked. My sincere condolences to her family. I know how much you all meant to her, and how greatly she will be missed.

Hugs and love to the whole family! Midge hired me to care for her children, then welcomed me as a new science teacher at DCVI 25 years ago. Her lessons of advocacy for those who can’t self advocate and pushing to set the bar higher are as valuable today as they were then. You will be missed by the community and your family.
