Obituary of Mervin Shute

Mervin Lorne Shute of St. Marys and formerly of Kirkton passed away at Stratford General Hospital on March 25, 2019 in his 84th year.Survived by his loving wife Helen, married for 55 years. Beloved father of Tim (Ellen), Dan (Teresa), Tracy (Jamie Beggs). Cherished grandchildren Brendan (Jillian), Brock (Stephanie), Brett (Ann), Bevon (Rachel), Adam and Nathan. Proud Great-grandpa of Theodore, Tessa and Levi. Brother and brother-in-law of Jean Ross, Edwin (Betty), Jean (Carl Mills), and predeceased by his parents Heber and Elsie, sister Marion (Jack Barr), and brother-in-law Howard Ross.Mervin will be remembered for his love of farming, carpentry and spending time in the sugar bush. He spent a lifetime volunteering in his community, with a special dedication to the Kirkton-Woodham Community Centre.Visitation at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. S. St. Marys (519-284-2820) on Thursday, March 28, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. The Funeral Service will be conducted at the KIRKTON-WOODHAM COMMUNITY CENTRE, 70497 Rd. 164, Kirkton, on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Nancy Knowles officiating. Spring burial in Kirkton Union Cemetery.Memorial donations may be made to the Thamesview United Church or Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation.
