Obituary of Ellen Parker
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our mother, Nana, and friend to many, Ellen Parker, on December 20, 2022 at the age of 89. Ellen spent her last days at home in St. Marys peacefully with her loving family by her side. With profound gratitude, we are blessed to have had this gem in our lives and thank her for her devotion to family and to those she loved most.
Ellen was born on August 17, 1933 in Wolverhampton, England. She immigrated to Canada Nov 1 1968 and worked at Stratford General Hospital for over 25 years. Wonderful mother to Angela Giambalvo and son in law Otto. She was the most precious and proud “Nan” to Jessica Nafziger (Chris), Sarah Nafziger (Seth) and Kate Giambalvo. Survived by her Brother and Sister-in-law, Denis and Barbara Lawlor of Stratford, and lifelong friends Peter and Clare Stockley of Stratford. Predeceased by, but happily reunited with, sisters Rose (England), Eileen (Michigan), and brother Bill (England). She will be missed by many extended family members.
Ellen is cherished for her kind heart and gentle soul. She is known for her strength and independence. We are beyond grateful for her unconditional love and encouragement throughout the years. She will be fondly remembered for her love of flowers, a cuppa tea, having a good laugh and sending cards for every occasion to the people she cared about.
The family would like to send a heartfelt “thank you” to family, friends, and neighbours. A special thank you to the residents of 50 Stoneridge, especially Doug and Brenda for their kind words, and generosity. Thank you to Dr. Kathleen Thomasson, Andrea, palliative RN, Mary PSW, and Jessica RN, care coordinator, for their support and superb care in Ellen’s final months.
As per Ellen’s wishes, private family gathering to take place at a later date. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Hospice of choice, Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice or Jessica’s House, Exeter, would be appreciated.
