Yvonne and I convey our deepest sympathy to Marilyn and all the family with the departure of Rev. John Herman, husband, family man and friend. Only three weeks before his final hours, we met up with him at our grandson Ryder’s hockey tournament in the Detroit area. If it hadn’t been for this event, we would’ve had to go further back in the past to remember our last time with John. If this isn’t our Lord’s intervention, I don’t know what is.
Being in John’s company was always a delight. His genuine regard for everyone’s wellbeing, his cheerful manner and generous ways towards his guests in his retirement home were beyond compare. We first got to know John and Marilyn when our daughter, Carla, and Marilyn’s son, Sean, had made the solemn promise to each other to spend their lives together as man and wife. Who officiated their wedding? Reverend John of course.
Saying goodbye is hard and John will be dearly missed. But he would have wanted all of us to move on. And so we will, while being grateful for him having been part of our lives.
