It was my honour to have known Rudy for the last 2 years of his life, and to have been one of the members of the team that made it possible for him to stay in his own home for as long as possible, which was his strong wish. I will remember fondly our many conversations, ranging in topics from his memories and love of his family, to the many places he lived in his life (Germany, Australia, BC) before settling in St. Marys, his love of fixing things, pickup trucks, horses, humorous and serious German poems and songs, gardening, woodworking, wine and beer making, potatoes, and whatever else would cross his mind. On almost every visit he would speak of how much he missed his wife Marta, and how he longed to be at her side again. His wish has finally come true for him.
