Obituary of Harvey Leroy Pfaff

Harvey Leroy Pfaff 1926-2018Peacefully at Cedarcroft Place, Stratford, on Monday, January 8, 2018, Harvey Pfaff, age 91.Beloved husband for almost seventy years of Marjorie Hoffman, his Zurich girl and the love of his life. Dear father of Larry Pfaff (Catherine) and Barbara Holliday (Doug). He adored his eight grandchildren – Alexander Pfaff, Rosalind Pfaff; Chris Holliday (Marla), Jenny Roth (Brad), Jim Holliday (Allie), Matt Holliday (Erin), Ashley Goodson (Dan), Courtney Beech (Ben). He enjoyed being Old Papa to twelve great-grandchildren – Ruby, Hazel; Braedan, Turner, Brooklynn, Max; James, Katie, Charlotte; Violet; Eleanor, Jolee Mayme. Also survived by his sister Marilyn Major (Paul) and his sister-in-law Verna Pfaff. Predeceased by his brother Arthur and sister-in-law Rose.Born in Hay Township, Huron County, he attended a one-room school and grew up on a family farm without electricity. In 1955, he moved to St Marys where he was a long-time employee of the St. Marys Cement Company. He was active in his church and his community, coaching minor hockey and minor ball for many years. He chaired the committee responsible for the construction of the 1971 St. Marys arena.Visitation will be held at the ST. MARYS UNITED CHURCH (85 Church St S., St Marys) on Friday, January 12th, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the St. Marys United Church on Saturday, January 13th at 10:00 a.m. with visitation one hour before. Interment in St Marys Cemetery in the spring.Donations in his memory may be made to the St.Marys United Church or the St. Marys Hospital Foundation.His family is grateful for the professional, loving care that he received at Cedarcroft Place.
