To Dave and Sue and family, my deepest condolences on Glen’s passing. I treasure the memories of time spent with you and your family through the years. As they say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. One very vivid memory is being invited to join you on a weekend road trip north and the long drive in the family Buick. As a young first generation Canadian, it was my first experience camping and introduced me to enjoying the great outdoors. Your parents were always the epitome of patience and grace.

My sincere condolences to the Millson family on the loss of Glen (always Mr. Millson to me). I have many fond childhood memories of time spent playing at the Millson house. My mom and dad were very fortunate to have Glen and Ruth as neighbours for so many years. Glen hired my dad when he lost his job in the early 60’s and dad was always very grateful for that. They always remarked on what a nice person Glen was.

Dear Ruth and family. Sheila and I were so sorry to hear of Glen's death. Our sympathy to you all. To me, he was a giant of a man: so caring and humble, so capable and so kind. I grew up in his neighbourhood and he seemed to genuinely enjoy all the neighbourhood kids running and playing all over his and Ruth's yard. He was a strong man of faith and a stalwart in activities at church for decades.
One fond memory involves winter. I was in a rush to drive back to work after lunch in the 1980's. While I was inside, the snowplow had come by, filling the end of the driveway with snow. I thought the car could push its way through the berm but I was wrong. Furiously shovelling snow to free the car, Glen drove by, saw me and stopped. Together, we freed the car and my heartfelt thanks was was all that he would take. I know that his breathing could sometimes be laboured so his kindness was treasured that much more, knowing that he may have been putting himself at some risk with his effort.
His was a life well lived and I'm sure he is at rest in Heaven.

Condolences to Ruth & all the family.
The first time I met Glen I knew that he was a real true Gentleman.
He was a very gifted craftsmen, builder & person in general.
He had vast practical knowledge & skill.
Something that we need more of in this world.
He & Ruth have always been very supportive to Barbara & I & have helped us in many ways many times over the years.
We cherish having some of his handy work, corner cupboards & hutch now in our dining room that he made.
We will think fond memories of Glen every time we see these fine pieces of solid oak wood working.
One of the many fond memories is when Glen & Ruth helped us lay sod at our Cedar St house.
He was there to help at a moments notice.
The sod supplier must have miscalculated the amount of sod that we needed & we had 2 pickup trucks worth of sod left over.
We loaded up his & our pickup trucks high with sod & set out to New Hamburg to my Mom & Dad's to put it on their lawn.
Both trucks were very wobbly.
We had to stop at Petersburg gas station to pump up the tires they were almost all flat from all the weight.
We made it to New Hamburg laughing all the way!
Glen will be missed very much.
He was a fine example for us all, to be more like Jesus.
I'm proud to say that Glen was my Father in Law.
Sincerely
Lee Jukes

Glen was a man of few words and you had to listen closely or you might miss his quiet humour always accompanied with a twinkle in his eye.
With his knowledge of old buildings and his expertise as a builder, he was an invaluable member of Heritage St. Marys for many years. Invariably, there would be a contentious agenda item which would be discussed at length and with no resolution; finally Glen would speak up with a solution so simple and straightforward that it left everyone else speechless.
He was admired and respected, and now missed.

Ruth and family,
I’m so very sorry for your loss. Glen was a wonderful friend to the St. Marys Museum and such a great source of information about the heritage buildings in our community. I never asked him a question about local history that he couldn’t answer. He will be greatly missed but he left a wonderful legacy.

To Glen's Family;
Glen was my first landlord and was the very best! He was also the guy who lead us on the Junction Station stabilization project. He never had trouble explaining things to people and helping along the way. There needs to be more people of his type! Sympathies to you all! An all around great man.
