Mike Bender posted a condolence
To The Workman Family, I was very saddened to hear of Bill's sudden passing, having just seen him at the London Farm Show a month back it was definitely a shock, I've had the pleasure of knowing Bill for over 20 years, mostly from calling on Hyde Bros. when working for AGCO. I can still see him in his chair at the St. Mary's store, hat cocked, twinkle in his eye and so full of life. It was a real pleasure calling on Bill as I don't think he ever had a bad day in his life, seeing him always put a smile on my face and brightened my day. Everyone loved Bill and I will miss seeing him. I am Thankful he was in my life. My deepest condolences. The Bender Family

In 1975 I sold advertising for the St. Marys Journal Argus. Bill Workman and AC were the best of customers. Walking into the farm equipment dealership meant weaving around a yard of equipment, serviced machines joggling about. The offices and part area were tight and cramped. Bill was always direct, firm and polite. I never had to wait other than the constant phone call interruptions. That and waving directions and head nods to a parade of staff inquiries. Through all this action Bill would toss me a glossy advertising slick from corporate marketing. “Here. Run this.” “What size Bill.” Big grin. “You know what to do.” Nice confidence builder for my first life time experience selling in home Town selling. I had one year ‘s experience in sales at the Chatham Daily News. Our Publisher insisted that all news and sales people men wore ties and a blazer. I continued here in St. Marys with the dress up. On my first meeting with Bill, after tossing me the ad, he grabs my tie and yanks it. “What’s this? Going to a funeral?” That was the last day that I wore a tie selling around Town and Country but for bank visits, weddings and funerals of course. Thank you Bill for setting my course straight.

It is with heavy heart that Christine & I heard of Bills passing while in Florida this morning. Having worked with one another for close to 30 years our relationship grew to a strong friendship & our mutual respect for each other will always be cherished by us. Condolences Bonnie & Melissa as you lost a husband & father way too soon in life. RIP my friend as you will be joined with Donna & maybe pass out some more rubber ducks to a friend made there.
