Obituary of William Irving Hance

William Irving Hance passed away at St. Marys Memorial Hospital on October 17, 2019 at the age of 87. Bill was born on February 15, 1932 in Toronto, Ontario to the late Dr. Irving and Ina Hance (Edmonds). Beloved husband for 42 years to Marilyn Hance (May). Missed by brother-in-law Ronald May (Beulah, deceased), sons Ronald and Brian (daughter Samantha); sister-in-law Janice Hawkins (Leonard), son Steven (Sandra), daughter Laurie (Gerard Roy) and children Courtney and Joshua Dowling and Brooke and Corson Roy, son Rhett Hawkins (Jennifer) and children Kaeden and Delphine. Marilyn would like to thank the wonderful care givers to Bill; all the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Marys Memorial Hospital and Clinic, Stratford General Hospital, Victoria Hospital and St. Josephs, especially Dr. Charles Gatfield and Dr. Jon Schiedel.Bill worked in Toronto for ten years then moved back to his family home in St. Marys and worked at St. Marys Cement until his retirement. Bill and Marilyn enjoyed traveling overseas and many mystery trips, as well as many day trips. His biggest joy was his time at the family cottage on Wild Goose Island on Georgian Bay 15 miles by boat out of Parry Sound, Ontario. He enjoyed curling, bowling and lawn bowling for many years.Family and friends are invited to the St. MARYS UNITED CHURCH, 85 Church St. S. St. Marys on October. 28, 2019 for visiting from 1 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 2 p.m. Interment in St. Marys Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Marys United Church or St. Marys Healthcare Foundation.
