Obituary of Ada Joyce West
Ada Joyce (Arthur) West (March 31, 1929 – February 29, 2020) passed away peacefully at Kingsway Lodge, St. Marys, ON, in her 91st year.Joyce was predeceased by her husband Chester West (1982). Beloved Mother of Victor (Nancy) West, Beverly (Michelle) West, Carmeen (Stanley, 2019) Prince, Heather West (Willy Voelzke), Carling (Melanie) West, Cheryl Anne (Paul) Gutzke, Wendy (Perry, 2017) Triemstra, and Monty (Linda) West. A dear Grandmother of 20, predeceased by Christopher West (1975) and Laura West (1983) and Great-Grandmother of 17. She was the oldest daughter of George Arthur and Meta (Stainton) Arthur, and leaves behind her sister Opal (Doug) Dolson of Woodstock.Predeceased by brother-in-law of Melvin West (Lila), and Mervyn West (Olive).Joyce spent her whole life in the Browns Corners Community. She was a member of Browns United Church, Browns UCW, and a Life Member of Browns Women’s Institute. She was a dedicated community volunteer and loved the outdoors. She was a hard worker and a good cook, spending long hours in the barn, the fields, the garden and kitchen supporting their busy dairy farm and large family. She delighted in seeing the next generations of little ones arrive, and keeping track of them as they take their place in the world. She enjoyed card games, especially euchre and attended as many euchre parties and all day euchre events as possible. Camping and bowling were a couple of her other leisure time pursuits in her younger years. She loved sewing quilt tops, and completed a beautiful quilt for many of her grandchildren upon their marriages. St. Marys (519-284-2820) on Tuesday, March 3, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday, March 4, from 2 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 3 p.m. Spring interment in Kintore Presbyterian Cemetery.Reception in the Community Hall at the St. Marys Pyramid Recreation Centre (317 James St. S., St. Marys)Memorial donations may be made to Browns United Church or Canadian Diabetes Association.
