Gladys was an adventurer! She loved to walk, drive, fly, and go by train. She enjoyed people watching, machinery, and technology. She loved life and the simple pleasures of admiring a butterfly in flight, a child dancing in the street, or a dog walking down the path. Trying new things was so much fun with Gladys. Some of my favourite memories included taking her trick-or-treating at 95, walking into Elora Gorge at 94, taking an ice slide in Hensal @ 93, and sitting her into the pilot seat of the ORNGE helicopter last year in the Flats. She was like a little kid in her enthusiasm for life. Today I lost my friend. She was born after the first world war, lived through the second and the Korean wars, survived the incoming of 2000 and enjoyed several years of adventuring with me through southern Ontario. Rest in Peace Gladys Hamer! My family and friends will miss you very much. Peggy

Gladys and Oliver would frequently walk by our home facing the Thames river. If I was in the garden, we always had a wonderful chat. Gladys was always happy to see friends and talk. I was sad when she lost Oliver, but still often saw her out walking. So glad that she was able to stay active for so long and even happier that I had a chance to meet and spend the occasional moments with Gladys. Those moments were always uplifting and memorable for me. My condolences to her family. Gladys had a real spark for life and am hoping she passed that love onto all of you. May wonderful memories give your hearts peace.

I had the pure pleasure of welcoming Gladys to my dairy farm a couple of years ago. At the age of 95plus you would have never guessed it. She walked the entire barn and even outside for a bit. She was truly in awe of the changes to dairy farmer. She was quick witted and a real pleasure to have as a guest. She was driven to the farm by her friend Peg whom also was a friend of mine for many years. I will never forget that day . She inspired me to keep moving daily. I send my sympathy to her family....she was proud of them. Also to her good friend Peg whom I am sure will miss the adventures with this truly sweet soul Keep your memories close to your heart
