Obituary of William Storrie Forrester
In his 92nd year, William “Bill” Storrie Forrester, of St. Marys and formerly of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2017 at Kingsway Lodge surrounded by family and companion.Survived by his children Peter (Barb), David (Sandra), Vicki Graham (Nelson), Todd (Sharon), son-in-law Randy Forman, 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and his companion Aline Hall. Predeceased by his wife Florence, daughter Linda Forman, parents David and Mary, brothers David, James and Alfred.He served in WWII in the infantry core with the 2nd battalion of the Irish Regiment of Canada, going overseas to England, Belgium, Holland, France, Italy and Germany from 1943 to 1946. He has been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 73 years. Bill started work at age 16 at Dominion Chain in Niagara Falls. He got time off to serve in the war. Once home, he resumed his job at Dominion Chain, which eventually moved to Stratford. In 1965, Bill and his family moved to St. Marys, so he could continue his career until retirement in 1991. Bill will be missed by family, past work mates, Legion members and many friends.Special thank you to Dr. Gatfield and the staff of Kingsway Lodge.Cremation has taken place.Visitation will be held at the ST. MARYS UNITED CHURCH, 85 Church St. South, St. Marys, on Sunday, March 19, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m.The Royal Canadian Legion Service will take place at 6:30 p.m.The Memorial Service will be conducted at the church on Monday, March 20, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Doug Loucks officiating.Interment in St. Marys Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 236, 66 Church St. North, St. Marys.Memorial donations may be made to London Regional Cancer Centre or the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 236, St. Marys.
