Obituary of Joanna Maria Pedley

Joanna Maria Pedley passed away peacefully on July 28, 2020 at University Hospital, London, in her 100th year with family by her side.Loving wife of the late Fred Pedley (1990). Cherished mother of Fred Pedley and his wife Ann, St. Marys; Lucienne Murray, Stratford: Anna Hnatyshen, Stratford; Monica Lebiedz and her husband Mario, Hanmer.She will be deeply missed by seven grandchildren: Connie Baker (James), Paul McCutcheon, Jeff Murray, Shawn Murray (Sarah), Randy Coddington, Heather Soares and Kristine Coddington. Proud great-grandmother of 16 and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters, Marie Louise Devos-Vandendriessche and Lucienne Coremans-Vandendriessche as well as many nieces and nephews in Belgium.Predeceased by her parents Daniel and Amanda Vandendriessche and ten siblings.Joanna met her husband Fred during the liberation of Belgium by the allied forces. They were married in 1946 and immigrated to Canada in 1951, settling in St. Marys where they raised their family. Joanna enjoyed working in her large vegetable garden and one of her passions was baking wonderful European desserts and pastries. Her main joy in life however was her family. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by them and when she could show them her unconditional love.A private family Funeral Mass will be conducted at Holy Name of Mary Parish with interment in St. Marys Cemetery.As expressions of sympathy, donations in Joanna’s memory may be made to the Ontario Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
