We met Shirley later in her life when she sat with us at church in Stratford. What a treat she was to know. After she had a stroke we ferried her for groceries and helped her sell her car when she was unable to drive again. We were able to keep in touch with her as she moved north then back to this area but finally lost contact when she was as near as Exeter. What a sweetheart she was and the loss of her joyous spirit at this time in our perturbingly sad world is a true heartbreak. Be assured she has definitely earned her place in heaven Rest in peace dear friend. Brian and Joanne Fewkes

My sympathies go out to Shirley’s family & friends esp Cathy & Brad. I worked for Shirley & Ross at Country Spire all through high school and absolutely loved this unique shop and tea room in Russeldale! Shirley was a visionary and she made those visions a reality! I think I’ll make a batch of scones in Shirley’s memory. Rest In Peace.
