I remember times with Ernie together with my dad and the Craigmiles. I saw and talked to Ernie often at the cement plant when I had a summer job there while attending University. More recently, my brother and I would talk with him when he was able to go for walks from the Kingsway and come by in front of our house. We always had good memories of Ernie and are saddened to hear of his passing.

I recall chatting with Ernest several years ago at the Flats and recognizing what a quality human being he was. My condolences to all who knew and loved him.

Ernie was a wonderful neighbour and friend when he and his Mother lived on Queen St. They never complained about any neighbours even when Maurice and my sons were a little rowdy! Anne always referred to across the Pond to her Irish Homeland. I never heard Ernie speak an ill word about anyone. He spoke about his nephew and the Craigmile’s with love. My son Mark Mossip enjoyed chats with Ernie at the Cement Plant. I will miss seeing Ernie at Kingsway and will remember with fondness when he wanted me to have the balloon he was given for his 90 th birthday. I am thankful for Shirley and Ernie’s friendship for many years until Shirley was promoted to her home in heaven and now Ernie- on March 17th St.Patricks Day. We serve a great God. Most Sincerely,Nelda Mossip-Oliver .

I worked with Ernie at the Cement Plant and used to run into him on the River Rd. watching the Great Blue Herons. He was a very kind man and had a dry sense of humour. RIP Ernie Don Bailey
