I will always have very fond memories of Aunt Jean sitting in her chair by the window waving at me as I past by her door at Kingsway Lodge. Many a time I would drop in after work and have a visit with her and the occasional oatmeal cookie which really made her day especially this past year. Saying that, I would like to extend my sincere condolences to Donna & Ross,Doug & Karen,Marie & Danny and your families.

Aunt Jean and my Grandmother Ella had a very special and close relationship, and I know now they are together once again. Even though we didn’t get to visit as often as we would like Aunt Jean always treated us as close members of the families and with open arms. She will be missed.

I always enjoyed my visits with aunt Jean and glad she got to meet Rowan a few times, and most recently she met Alder when she video called me on Facebook! She always had a treat to share and a keen interest in everyone around her. I'll miss our visits and her Christmas cards every year, and treasure my knit mittens even more. So thankful for the time I got to spend with Aunt Jean. On my last visit with her she gave me a beautiful polar bear to sit on my new mantle. Now every year I get to remember her and Ella as I place the polar bear on the mantle for Christmas. She was a wonderful woman with a beautiful soul. She will be missed.

I am so thankful to have had Aunt Jean as part of my life. She was always so caring, loving and welcoming to her stateside relatives. I loved reading her obituary and looking through the years of pictures that showed just how wonderful a life she lived and the legacy she leaves. I will be keeping all of you in my prayers.

I am going to miss my wonderful Aunt Jean. Much condolences to my cousins Marie (Danny), Doug (Karen), Helen and Donnie (Ross) and all their children and grandchildren. Aunt Jean played a BIG role in my life, and most especially since I lost Mom a nearly two years ago. She used to tell me when she heard the train whistle at 845PM, it was mom telling her she was ok. Now when you hear the whistle in St. Mary’s it’s them, telling us they are ok. Rest In Peace my sweet aunt. Love Karen (and of course all my family)

Very sorry to hear that Jean has passed . I quite enjoyed her enthusiasm for life and interest in her community right from the first meeting back in the 1990’s. The last visit we had was on FaceTime , Jan. 15th , 2021 which she initiaited. At that time, she was her usual upbeat self so we had a great visit. She was very positive about her residence, the staff and the food too. She will be missed but the last day comes for us all. May your fine memories sustain you in years to come. Bernice Marsland

To all the Matheson Family My condolences to all of you. I met Jean at Kingsway as she was a friend of my Aunt Gwen Waghorn and Wilma Davis. What a wonderful Lady! She called me a couple of weeks ago and I treasure that call as I was not able to visit with her at Christmas as I always had. I am saddened, but feel blessed to have known her.
